General Information
The Loxahatchee River District is a Special District of the State located in Jupiter Florida dedicated to protecting and preserving the Loxahatchee River by providing water reclamation, environmental education, and river monitoring and restoration.

 

WildPine Laboratory Internship

Spring, Summer & Fall Sessions
Next Opportunity: Fall 2015

Laboratory Interns will be responsible for assisting technicians in the operation of the WildPine Ecological Laboratory. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, collecting water samples, free diving to monitor oysters and seagrass, assisting with water quality analysis, participating in outreach events, retrieving recycled oyster shells from area restaurants, prepare shells for use in research projects. Laboratory Interns are also encouraged to create, implement, and evaluate their own project during their time at the Laboratory with the assistance of Laboratory staff.

Community Outreach Coordinator

Open until August 20, 2015 (4p.m.)

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will develop and conduct programs and events that engage families and adults in the community and promote the enjoyment and appreciation for the nationally recognized Loxahatchee River, and the River Center, a premier environmental education facility. The primary duty is to develop, plan, organize, budget, coordinate, promote and manage events and programs to increase community involvement and participation at the River Center and on the Loxahatchee River. Examples of previous events and programs include Night on the Loxahatchee annual fundraiser, organizing monthly presentations to the Friends of the Loxahatchee River civic group, campfires, fishing clinics, kayak tours, bird walks, etc. This position will also work closely with our Friends of the Loxahatchee River membership and provide speakers for monthly presentations.

Environmental Education Internships
(2015-2016 Fall/Spring)

Education Interns will be responsible for leading education tours and activities at the center for visiting school, home school, and camp groups. Group tours occur Tuesday-Friday, 10a-12p. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, greeting guests, caring for aquatic life, assisting in species collection, participating in outreach events, coordinating and recruiting volunteers, leading children's programs, and assisting with special events. Education Interns are also encouraged to create, implement, and evaluate their own interest program or project during their time at the River Center with the assistance of our Educators.
