| The District created Project RiverKeeper in 1973 to focus on aquatic research and water quality within the Loxahatchee River watershed. Through RiverKeeper, we are able to monitor biological, chemical and physical trends in water quality, which allows us to quickly identify and eliminate pollution sources and access the general health of the river. Through Loxahatchee River Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Network we are able to add an even greater dimension by increasing the frequency of our monitoring with the help of local citizens. Volunteers are trained by the District to collect water samples at specified sites along the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway. This data is then collected, compiled and analyzed by the WildPine staff to provide an even more comprehensive report on the long-term, season and temporal trends of the river. | |
